Commons:Bots/Work requests

This is a page for requesting work to be done by a bot. This is an appropriate place to simply put ideas for bots. However be aware of various tools available to all users which can be used to accomplish the work without the need for a bot:

Gadget Cat-a-lot can be used for most category adding, removing and moving
VisualFileChange tool can be used for mass-changes of one author's uploaded files, or files in a category, creating a mass-deletion-request, let you insert tags to the file-description-pages (even copy from exif/meta-data). You can also perform find and replace operations with or without JavaScript regular expressions (regexp). A common use case is: "I've changed my username". It's a web-tool and can be launched directly.
AutoWikiBrowser can be used for large number of supervised and automatic edits
Commons:Batch uploading page can be used to request mass image uploads

In that case, {{protectededit}} may be necessary. It seems to derive from the line

.*[^\0-\x{FFFF}\p{Han}].* <casesensitive|errmsg=titleblacklist-custom-hidden-char> # Very few characters outside the Basic Multilingual Plane and CJK Unified Ideographs are useful in titles

{{protectededit}} only works for pages already created. In this case I'm unable to even create the page, and unsure how my bot would be able to get past the blacklist. After poking at this a little more, it looks like only admins are able to ignore the blacklist. So you may want to get in touch with them: COM:AN. Mass categorization of Wiki Loves Monuments Poland photos[edit]

Hi! I'd like to have 50k files from Polish Wiki Loves Monuments added to categories for voivodeship (province) they were taken in. It will help with arranging GLAM partnerships that involve Commons uploads. These categories are hidden and are part of the contest category tree (like WLM in 2022, Featured photos from WLM etc.).

I've prepared 16 lists of files. Every list applies to one category, linked in a header on top of the page:

Tropical Cyclone Track Maps[edit]

WikiProject Weather from EN Wiki is in need of a bot to produce derivative files of the track maps within the category Category:Tropical_cyclone_track_maps_with_track_data_as_input_code for usage on the EN wiki and any other wikis that wish to use the scale that we recently adopted in a RfC. This can easily be done with Gadget Cat-a-lot:

Search for incategory:"Tropical cyclone tracks" -incategory:"Tropical cyclone track maps with the original scale".
Expand results to 500.
Using Gadget Cat-a-lot, add the category to the first 500 results.
Wait a few seconds for the changes to be propagated to all servers.
Refresh the search page.
Repeat steps 3 to 5.

Photos of Czech president Petr Pavel[edit]

Photos File:Petr Pavel photo 6474.jpg and File:Petr Pavel photo 6474 cropped.jpg, which are quite widely used in various wikipedias, are going to be deleted soon, see Commons:Deletion requests/File:Petr Pavel photo 6474.jpg. Bulk-inserting a category to files[edit]

I want to insert a user category (Category:Baleswari Odia pronunciation by Subhashish Panigrahi) to keep track of progress. I could find all the files (here) using Petscan. However, I can't figure out how to use something like cat-a-lot to include the category "" to all these files. Will really appreciate any help. The equivalent search is incategory:"Baleswari Odia pronunciation" -incategory:"Baleswari Odia pronunciation by Musamani Panigrahi" (search). Help for review needed files[edit]

Hi. My request is related to reviewers and some news agencies files. For example: We have 3566 from Tasnimnews, 5599 from Farsnews and 14339 from Mehrnews that review needed. But I'm sure We have more than files form these websites that review needed but upladers didn't follow the guides and forgot to add {{License review}} template and related category like [[Category:Mehrnews review needed]] ! For example : This file is from Tasnim and this file from farsnews without License review template and category. So please run the Bot and add this template and related category to any files from news agencies that dosen't have {{License review}} template with related category. Hi @Mehdi. I started taking a look at this request, specifically for the Mehr News Agency to start with. Here are the files I find which should have {{License review}} added: hastemplate:Mehr -incategory:"Files from external sources with reviewed licenses" -incategory:"License review needed" -incategory:"Extracted images".
