Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

Hi. Thank you! I corrected it. I could not find any photographs from Great Prophet III but it seems like an important exercise (Wikipedia has an article about it). ممنون از شما؛ و البته نکته قابل عرض دیگه این که معمولا تصاویر از منابع ایرانی بر پایه عکاس رده‌بندی میشه (مثلا اینجا رو ببینید.) و وارد کردن این رده‌ها هنگام بارگذاری عمده بسیار کار رو آسون‌تر میکنه، بسایر ممنون می‌شم اگر هنگام بارگذاری به این مورد هم توجه کنید. Jask Naval Base[edit]

Dear Hemin, I apologize for being 'harassing bastard' once again, but FYI I moved all photos from Jask Naval Base to Bandar Abbas Naval Base. The reason is that I'm 100% sure it was a wrong identification. Proof: this photo shows this building, and surrounding docks shown on other photos also perfectly fit for Bandar Abbas. You're welcome. If you allow me, few more tips:

International Conference in Support of the Palestin the Symbol of Resistance has a mistake in naming, Palestin should be Palestine
No need that you left empty Wikidata templates for family reunions in this category, such events probably will never have Wikidata item. Not even all famous sport matches have Wikidata items.
Instead of inserting description into Great Prophet, I believe it's more useful to put it inside Wikidata (like I did), along with filled properties. In that way Commons' pages look more clear, and huge advantage of properly filled Wikidata is that infobox will automatically translate all to other languages, so even non-English speakers will understand all.
If you redirect some category on Commons, and Wikidata item for it exists, also change Commons properly inside Wikidata.
It is not common that general categories by year have templates with all years, like Military of Iran by year. If I put it inside Iran by year it will look so huge, like Borj-e Milad! :) But fine, IMHO it can stay for military categories.
If you spent precious time for identifying something, I advice you to put it on watchlist that other users don't ruin it. I'm not speaking about vandals and IPs, but experienced users and even admins, who were sometimes trying to "correct" files which I identified.. Personally I have 70,830 files on my watchlist.

Finally, if you wonder why I noticed all of this, you can take a look of histories of Ports and harbours in Iran, People of Iran by city, hundreds of cities, hundreds of years, hundreds of topics by city and province... you'll notice that virtually everything was organized (or checked) by one person. Me! :) So, as an experienced categorist I must say that your work here is truly a perfection, >99,9% correct, and your organization is far above any WikiProject Iran's member (including three admins). A plain fact. I'm proud of you and happy to have you here, so please don't mind if I object or revert something regarding that 0,1%. :) Also, if you in future need some help regarding identifying, reorganization or anything else, I'm really at your service. @Orijentolog For some reason that I don't know, I received no notification for this message so I am replying with delay. I think the typo was because I copy/pasted the name of the files, please feel free to correct any of my spelling mistakes. About MEK defectors category, there are several of these people receiving media coverage in Iran, I created this category to distinguish them from members (I have not yet uploaded files for these people). Regarding that MEK categories, you didn't get me well, I was not speaking about opening categories for such events on Commons. That is totally fine. I was speaking about leaving Wikidata Infobox template inside, despite the fact that probably it will never be opened, and there's no need for such Wikidata item. So it's better to removed it like I did.

Re: Watermark removal[edit]

Hi,

I'm using the GIMP program. I select the place where the watermark is. I align the brightness of the highlighted section with the rest of the image. This fixes most of the space occupied by the watermark. Then you have to retouch the remaining colored part of the mark by copying and patching.

راهنمایی بابت تصاویر حذف شده[edit]

خواهش می‌کنم، هر چقدر سوال دارید بنده تا جایی که بلد باشم در خدمت هستم. اینطور در نظر می‌گیریم که همه چیز کپی‌رایت داره مگر این که خلافش ثابت بشه. یعنی اون سایت صریحا انتشار محتوا تحت لایسنس خاصی رو ذکر کرده باشه. مثلا خبرگزاری مهر، زیر صفحاتش مجوز کریتیو کامانز (که آزاد هست) رو ذکر کرده. برخی از سایت‌های دیگه مثل تسنیم، موج، فارس و... هم همین لایسنس رو دارن. Maps on ethnic groups in Iran[edit]

Hi, Commons is NOT an authorative collection on maps and information. PoV is allowed to exist in uploaded media. Flat-out false maps can be nominated for deletion, for which you need a good rationale and prove that they're not within usage anywhere. Inaccurate maps can be flagged ("Disputed Map") and possibly corrected. I found your sweeping changes these last days surprising and would like to see an explanation of what you hope to achieve, while I get myself an overview of what is all in there. --Enyavar (talk) 19:57, 2 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi. I completely agree that different opinions can exist, there is no problem with that. But there is a difference between inconsistent/disputed information and distorting information. Maybe different sources have different opinions, that's OK. Sometimes even sources are clearly wrong (like File:Ethnographic map of Persia in circa 1939 by The Field Museum.jpg which confuses Turks/Azeris with Turkmens and paints them with Gilaks and Mazanderanis in northern Iran as simply 'Turkomans') but that is OK too. However, I think this is not OK to use maps as a colouring book and put them all together here. If every user wants to make a change in a file on their own and upload a new file that suits their taste (without having a source), then use in some Wiki and put it in the same category here, that category will lose its meaning. (For example, compare File:Iran-Ethnicity-2004.PNG with File:Iran-Ethnicity-2022.png and see how much they are different). I have nominated some problematic maps for deletion before and they were deleted. After I saw Category:Inaccurate maps of Shanghai, I thought that such category will be useful to distinguish between maps that have a source and those which are baseless. I hope my intention to organize files in a better way is clear, categorization is one of my favorite edit fields and I have organized many categories before (A recent example is creating Category:Missile vehicles of Iran and all its categories). Hi, thanks for understanding. Fully agreed on bad maps ruining good categories. I have seen hundreds of falsified maps before, and also was aware that ethnic maps of Iran are hotly disputed. When I just noticed that you have moved many maps around and into very different categories, my alarm bells were ringing, especially with a 1:1 recreation of the CIA map (both of them are heavily used in many projects, and semi-protected against vandalism!) suddenly being called just as "inaccurate" as the fakes that were derived from it. To bring everything back together, I renamed "Fictional maps of Iran" into "Disputed maps of Iran" and re-categorized your objections to be included in there. I think that these maps need to be assessed individually: For example, this or this Lakistan map seems to me as a good faith attempt to show the area of the Laki language, and not a speculated state. Meanwhile this one looks like its author wanted to propose a province/state: Could you please check on File:زبان لکی ایران عراق.jpg and File:Laki speakers.jpg? I can file a deletion request against all maps by that uploader, so we get rid of them. They seem unused, except for one in ku:Lekistan, which looks like a bad article (no source, fake map?). My bad, putting File:Iran-Ethnicity-2004.PNG in that category was a mistake and I changed it to CIA maps category. I agree that File:Iran- Lak people 1.JPG and File:Zaravayên kurdî yên başûr li parêzgehên loristan, kirmaşan.jpg are not map of fictional states and are linguistic maps, just like File:زبان لکی ایران عراق.jpg and File:Laki speakers.jpg. I did a little search and found a few social media accounts and blogs that advocate creating a new province named Lakestan (nothing seems official or with a support base). But Lakestan is also the name of a village in northwestern Iran that was important during World War I for a conflict that took place near it (fa:رخداد لکستان). Some sources indicate that the people of this Lakestan in northwestern Iran were Lak immigrants from Dagestan (unrelated to Laks in our "Lakestan" category). Kurdish Wikipedia article has no source for that article and only links to a website that does not work anymore. I don't think that those files have any use for Wikis unless there is a serious source for these maps or a proposal is made for such province. @Mehdi سلام مجدد. در مورد تصاویر موزه نهاجا، راستش خودم هم در مورد کپی‌رایت بعضی از تصاویر شک داشتم اما اینور تصور کردم که نمایش یک عکس در یک موزه رو میشه پابلیک کردن مدنظر قانون در نظر گرفت و چون قدمت تصاویر جنگ به حداقل 35 سال میرسه، تصاویر رو میشه در مالکیت عمومی تلقی کرد. البته در صورت حذف هم تصمیم منطق خواهد داشت چون نمیشه ثابت کرد که اون عکس خاص دقیقاً در چه تاریخی در موزه قرار داده شده. @HeminKurdistan:سلام. برای تصاویر اشتقاقی و یا تصاویر گرفته شده از روی تصاویر قدیمی واقعا سخت گیری خاصی در انبار وجود دارد. الزام هر عکس قدیمی نمی تواند متعلق به عموم باشد و باید بتوان تاریخ انتشار اولیه آن تصویر و یا فوت عکاس آن پیش از سال 1980 را اثبات کرد. تاریخ انتشار اولیه باید بیش از 30 سال قبل باشد. برای پوستر فیلم های قدیمی و روزنامه ها و نشریات که واضح است و نیازی به اثبات خاصی نیست ولی برای سایر تصاویر این الزام وجود دارد. هرچند ایران به قانون حق تکثیر جهانی پایبند نیست اما در انبار برای جلوگیری از اجحاف در حق دارندگان حق تکثیر ایرانی به این قانون استناد و تاکید شده است. متاسفاه کلاف سردرگمی است که به دلیل خلاء قانونی در قوانین ایران ایجاد شده است. در خود ویکی فارسی نیز هر بحثی در این خصوص کرده ایم به نتیجه واحد و خاصی نرسیده و همیشه این خلاء قانون منجر به عدم جمع بندی صحیح و نیمه کاره ماندن مباحث شده است. نمونه اش این بحث ناتمام و بی نتیجه .--Mehdi^Talk 22:15, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

متاسفانه بر اساس معیارهای الگوی خود تسنیم و بحث مطرح شده، تایید این تصویر کمی شبهه‌برانگیز و ایجاد کننده حساسیت است. از نظر بنده نیز این تصویر متعلق به تسنیم است اما برای تصاویری از این دست باید تائیدیه سازنده همان الگو و افراد فعال در آن بحث را داشته باشیم تا با بحث های پشت‌بند آن مواجه نشویم. --Mehdi^Talk 18:14, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Mehdi متوجه هستم. یکی از دلایلی که سعی کردم در مورد تصاویر تسنیم مطالب مستند جمع‌آوری کنم همین بود. اونطور که من متوجه شدم بخش‌های مختلف تسنیم در استفاده از تصاویر سیاست‌های متفاوتی دارند که تا حدی بستگی به نظر سردبیر مربوطه داره. مثلاً دبیر گروه دفاعی تسنیم چند وقت پیش در توئیتر نوشته بود که ما اگر تصاویر رو از جای دیگری برداریم به واترمارک دست نمی‌زنیم و انتظار داریم که دیگر رسانه‌ها هم واترمارک تصاویر ما رو بر ندارند. این گروه یک کانال تلگرامی هم داره که دست خودشونه و تصاویر خبرنگاران دفاعی تسنیم رو با چنین واترمارکی منتشر می‌کنه: @tasnim_military. (گاهی این تصاویر در سایت نیستن)

ظاهراً واترمارکی که ما اینجا به عنوان واترمارک تسنیم می‌شناسیم روال کاری گروه عکس خبرگزاری هست. بعضی از دفاتر شهرستان‌ها ظاهراً این استاندارد رو دقیقاً رعایت نمی‌کنند. مثلاً این عکس دفتر هرمزگان واترمارک عجیبی استفاده کرده. یا این عکس از کرمان. نمونه هست که اسم عکاس هم مشخصه ولی در واترمارک ذکر نشده (دفتر رشت) و یک سری هم که کلاً واترمارک ندارند اما عکاس مشخصه. به نظر میرسه بعضی از این عکس‌‌ها با دوربین حرفه‌ای و توسط عکاس حرفه‌ای هم گرفته نشدن (مثلاً خبرنگار محلی که عکاسی هم در حد معمولی بلده با گوشی خودش عکس گرفته) و به دلیل آشنایی کم با نرم‌افزارهای گرافیکی، به همون شکل مورد تأیید سردبیر محلی قرار گرفته و روی خبرگزاری منتشر شده. در این صورت باز هم انتساب اون اثر به خبرگزاری محرز به نظر می‌رسه.

حقیقتش من توافق صریحی در بحث چند سال پیش نمی‌بینیم که حتماً هر چیزی واترمارک نداشت مشکل داره، البته اگر هم چنین چیزی می‌بود قابل تغییره. نمی‌دونم در جریان عکس‌های محمد آگاه هستید یا نه. ظاهراً همون زمان توافقی شده بود که عکس‌هایی که محمد آگاه گرفته مشکل داره و باید پاک بشه چون در سایت‌های مختلفی با لایسنس غیرآزاد منتشر شده. من تعدادی از عکس‌های محمد آگاه رو اینجا پیدا کردم و برای دیلیشن نامزد کردم ولی نظر جمعی این شد که این تصاویر مشکلی ندارند و تصاویر قدیمی هم دوباره آندیلیت شدن. میشه یک بحث جدیدی مطرح کرد و اون جمله رو از لایسنس حذف کرد. سپاس بسیار از توضیحات جامع شما. به نظرم بد نیست این موارد را در همان زیرصفحه کاربری خود نیز قرار دهید و سپس با بردنش به نظرخواهی، به الگوی مربوط به تسنیم اضافه شوند. در حال حاضر تایید این تصاویر ممکن نیست و حیف است که این تصاویر همینگونه به حال خود رها شوند. یکی از دلایلی که بنده را به سمت رسیدگی تصاویر تسنیم کشانده مشکل هک شدن ماه های اخیر سایت خبرگزاری فارس بوده. متاسفانه تصاویر بیشماری از فارس همچنان تایید نشدند و با توجه به حجم تخریب آرشیوها و از دسترس خارج شدن سایت کوتاه کننده لینک فارس، برخی از تصاویر قابل رسیدگی و تایید نیستند و ممکن است هر لحظه به بهانه در دسترس نبودن منبع و عدم تایید لایسنس تصاویر قدیمی، از انبار حذف شوند. از این جهت بهتر است تمامی تصاویر تسنیم رسیدگی و تعیین و تکلیف شوند تا این داده‌ها و تصاویر بی شمار نیز برای آیندگان محفوظ بمانند. متاسفانه سایت ساجد در سالهای اخیر به راحتی از دسترس خارج شد و تصاویر بسیاری می توانستند در انبار باشند که نیستند و یا بدلیل عدم تایید مجوزها در آینده ممکن است حذف شوند. وقتی این سه هزار و اندی تصویر هرچه زودتر تعیین تکلیف شوند می توان تصاویر و مناسبت های روز را بهتر و با دسته بندی بهتری بارگذاری نمود. --Mehdi^Talk 21:44, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Mehdi دغدغه شما کاملاً بجاست و من هم این نگرانی رو دارم که عکس‌ها در معرض خطر باشند. متأسفانه علاوه بر فارس (که آرشیو قبل از 1392 خودش رو پاک کرده و گنجینه عکس‌های ارزشمندی رو از دست دادیم)، یک سری از لینک‌های تسنیم (عمدتا در سال 2016) هم حذف شده و من به سختی از نسخه‌های زبان اردو و عربی سایت موفق شدم بعضی از عکس‌ها رو پیدا و آپلود کنم. بنابراین زحمات شما در تأیید عکس‌های آزاد ایران بسیار قابل‌تقدیر هست و من به نوبه خودم مجدداً از شما تشکر می‌کنم. عذر هم می‌خوام اگر در آپلود برخی از فایل‌ها بی‌دقتی کردم. به نظر شما بحث تغییر اون جمله در لایسنس تسنیم رو کجا باید پیگیری کنیم؟ در صفحه بحث خود لایسنس یا جای دیگری؟ HeminKurdistan (talk) 16:17, 6 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

However, if a photograph was published in Iran more than 30 years ago it will fall in public domain regardless of the author's death. Plus, this photograph is a work for hire for Iran's official news agency (IRNA), which owns the rights to it. As a result, any work that belongs to a legal person like IRNA will fall in public domain 30 years after publishing. We can be sure this picture is PD-Iran. سلام. با توجه به اینکه موزه عبرت در سال 1382 افتتاح شده و با فرض آنکه تمامی مجسمه ها یا پیکره‌های به نمایش درآمده در این موزه از ابتدا در این مکان به نمایش درآمدند، نمیتوانیم تصاویر اشتقاقی مرتبط با این پیکره‌ها را تا سال 1412در انبار بارگذاری نمائیم. مگر آنکه سازنده این مجسمه ها یا دارنده حق تکثیرشان به نحوی اجازه نامه مربوطه را ارسال کرده باشد و یا در مکانی اعلام رسمی کرده باشد. با وضعیت موجود مجبور به ثبت درخواست حذف شان هستیم. اگر به مجوزها دسترسی دارید که پیوند دهید در غیر اینصورت لطفا درخواست حذف اینگونه بارگذاری ها را خودتان ثبت کنید، سپاسگزار خواهم بود. با احترام: --Mehdi^Talk 08:11, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Mehdi :سلام. ظاهراً موزه در سال 1379 بازگشایی شده (هر چند در اصل مطلب تفاوتی ایجاد نمی‌کنه) و در مورد این که بعضی از مجسمه‌ها خیلی خیلی جدیدتر از این تاریخ هستند هم اطمینان کامل وجود داره (مثل این). در مورد مجسمه‌هایی که مثل این (که قراره شبیه فرد خاصی باشن و جزئیات کار اهمیت داره) به نظرم شکی وجود نداره که اثر هنری محسوب میشن و طبق قانون حقوق مالک حفاظت میشه. اما بعضی از این‌ها به نظر میرسه که حالت مانکن (مشابه ویترین مغازه) دارن و فقط قراره که یک پوز خاصی رو نمایش بدند. در صورتی که این‌ها هم دارای کپی‌رایت تلقی بشن تصاویر منحصربفرد و دارای ارزش آموزشی بالا رو از دست می‌دیم، مثلاً قپانی یا تنها تصویر واضح و باکیفیتی که از دستگاه آپولو داریم (اینجا) یا قفس داغ (این) که متأسفانه بعید می‌دونم هیچ تصویر آزاد دیگری براشون بشه پیدا کرد. تصاویری مثل این که حالت سیلوئت دارن هم می‌تونن دارای کپی‌رایت اشتقاقی تلقی بشن؟ اگر پاسخ این سوال منفیه، به نظر شما میشه راه حلی برای حفظ تصاویر دارای دارای ارزش آموزشی (مثل محو کردن) پیدا کرد؟ HeminKurdistan (talk) 18:06, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
